Background on Path to Africa
Path to Africa (“PTA”) is a non-government organization (“NGO”), registered in Ireland and Tanzania, which aims to help the local community in Moshi through aiding and advising pre-existing projects or co-ordinating and managing new projects.
The primary aim in establishing Path to Africa was to work with the local community and to establish links with local project co-ordinators to help develop and sustain their projects. This work included providing advice on managing and sustaining projects, assisting projects with access to information and donors from outside Tanzania, and connecting projects with volunteers. Path to Africa aims to cut out the ‘middle man’ by connecting local projects with volunteers or donors that want to donate their time or funds to a project and do not want to see their efforts diluted along the way with large overhead and administrative costs. As such, our involvement in each project varies depending on the needs of the project.
While the foregoing was the original aim of Path to Africa, the responsibilities and duties of Path to Africa have grown over the past two years. Although with some projects we continue to simply provide advice, connect donors to the project and oversee the spending or distribution of these funds on behalf of the donor, we have also begun to help in more active capacities with some projects, including being involved in the day-to-day operations of some projects and in the construction of new facilities.
Please see the Projects section of the website for information on local community projects that Path to Africa has partnered with.
